About the Project

Sweet Om Atlanta is a two-part public humanities podcast series about immigrant and multicultural lives in Atlanta, GA that is produced by students and faculty at Oglethorpe University. Its objective is to engage the university and broader community at large in an artistic, collaborative project while sharing ideas about intercultural identities amidst the changing face of the New South. While it is not a professional production, this project fosters the development of humanities skills within the literary, visual, theatrical, and musical arts and attempts to reimagine what is possible when these are activated towards social impact and understanding.

Academic Narratives

The Sweet Om Atlanta project also showcases the ongoing work of students in transnational and multicultural literature courses at Oglethorpe. These short podcasts and digital maps explore the stories of real Atlanta residents of different cultural backgrounds and attempt to highlight the increasingly heterogenous quality of life in the New South.
