1.5 – American Idiot

Jaysan Bivahani, a young and out-of-touch, third-generation Indian American Muslim (the crush interest of Alina in Ep. 1 who is also referenced in Ep. 3, 7, 8, and 9) reflects upon his first-semester of college at a small liberal arts college in Atlanta, which he has attended reluctantly when prevented by his achievement-oriented parents from taking a gap year. On a visit to his childhood home in the suburbs, he meditates on his new friendships in college, including a love interest who may or may not be gay. He does not get the parental nurturing he is seeking at home and leaves when his father returns from work and disparages him for his less than stellar grades.
