1.8 – The Catcher in the Counseling Center

Dr. Mala Singh, the forty-year old Indian American daughter of Ruchi Singh from Ep. 6, reflects upon how alienated from her cultural community she has become because she has not lived up to the formulaic expectations of her immigrant parents and their peers and pursued a career in psychology and counseling instead of marrying and having children. She receives a visit from would-be student client Priti Chandaraman (from Ep. 1, 5, and 9) who happens also to be Indian and then is regretful that her eagerness to forge a connection frightens Priti away from her office.
